Have a great summer, ICS!
Make the World a Better Place Summer Challenge- This is NOT MANDATORY!
Instead of assigning summer homework, we can make better use of our time by taking steps to improve the world around us. Write down your challenge, describing what you did with the results, and bring them in the first week of school. There are no limits of how many you can do, you are welcome to think of your own also!
*Visit historic sites, then send Mrs. Smith a postcard at the school describing your experience (Immaculate Conception School, 314 Old Allerton Rd., Annandale, NJ 08801)
*Sort out your belongings, anything in good condition, donate to charity.
*Tell someone how much they mean to you and why.
*Help your parents around the house, without them having to ask.
*Dream of your future, write down the steps needed to take to get there.
*Read a good book from a new author – not an assigned summer reading book.
*Speak out when you witness an injustice.
*Take a walk in the woods.
*Lie in the grass and find shapes in the clouds, even better, do this with a friend.
*Watch a classic movie, even better, a black and white film.
*Memorize a classic poem.
*Write a list of goals you want to accomplish before you are 18 years old.
*Cook dinner, from scratch, for your family.
*Hand write a letter to someone and send it through the mail.
*Stay off social media every other day.
*Make a thankfulness list – things you are thankful for – try to add a new item each week.
*Pick up after someone in your house.
*Talk to an older relative about your family history.
*Grow something you can eat.
*Bake cookies or a cake for someone else.
*Try a food you have never tried.
*Learn to play a new song on a musical instrument.
*Volunteer for, or donate to a charitable organization.
*Find a way to improve someone else’s life in another way.
*For 5 pts. Extra participation credit, write a summary of what you accomplished this summer, either from this list, or something similar.
